Hey guys my name is david. Currently i'm riding in a 95 T/A. I converted the formula to an 02 T/A. Thats inside and out.. It was a fund project but one morning I woke up and said... I think i'll go buy a vette.

So i'm considering selling my T/A for and picking up some payments on an 97 or 98 C5.

One thing i'm curious about is..... are there any differences between the 97's through 05's? I understand there are a few improvements to the drivetrain through the years.. but what features can you mention that you can only find in certain years...

are there different interior/exterior color codes?

Interior exterior features?

OPtions? T/C, Dual climate, heads up, stereo, suspension, wheels, exhaust,

performance, LS6 intake, heads, cam,

Transmissions, rears..

Like I said I just woke up one day and was like hmm I think i'll get a vette. I'm a big f-body fan but never really gave any thought about a vette...

No not even close. A lot was added over those 7 years.

The major changes was Active Handling and a Heads Up Display in 1999 or late 1998 models. In 2001 all base models got an extra 5 HP from the original 345HP. 2001 Also got the Z06. Your best bet would be a 1999 FRC 6 speed if you wan't an early speed demon.

is it difficult to install AH & HUD into a pre 99?

As for performance.. I know GM will be releaseing some Ls7 style heads for LS1/LS2 applications..These heads also use the Ls7 intake. So i'm not so much worried about what my car comes with stock powerwise as i'll fix that real quick...

I just dont' want to get a vette and regret something later... Like I wish I had HUD or AH.

Is traction control a standard item? I have it on my T/A and it's saved my a$$ enough times I know I can't have a car without it now.

No - 97's were only available in one body style, the coupe with the liftback glass, not to be confused with the Fixed Roof Coupe that became available in '99 and went on to become the legendary Z06 in '01.

Also - there were a number of differences between the '04 and the '97, such as availability of HUD (heads up display), Active handling, power telescoping wheel, different wheels, more horsepower and torque, different colors, no door lock on the passenger door, electrochromatic mirrors inside and on the driver's door.....the list goes on.

Visually the body panels are really interchangeable, and many of the features could be retrofitted. But over the eight year model run, the cars were steadily improved, although some of the folks here will say they never got some of the things right (fuel gauge, rocking seat, leaking diff, etc.)

I say buy the latest lowest mileage car that you can afford.

FRC = Fixed Roof Coupe as opposed to the coupe ( removable targa top ) and convertible.

Well i'm wanting to stay under 18k$ for the car. Mileage doesn't really bother me unless the body really shows alot of ware... a high milage motor is not a problem with me as it would give an excuse to replace teh bottom end. and I already have ideas mentioned above for heads.

I'd have plans of replacing the leather as I hate cheap leather...

Wheels I'm thinking some new z06's (probably be awhile)

FOr those with HUD is it really that great of an option?

the active handling sounds like a great thing as I like to play.. can this be incorp. into an ealier model? If so what kind of cost is involved?

I plan on putting alot of money into the car... so if I can get the same car for less i'm down. saying oh it's a 97 or an 04 is no big deal to me.
