My passenger side headlight is making a horrible noise. Both when it goes up and down, it makes a very loud screeching sound. It sounds like when you open an old door or when you turn your wheels on real slick concrete in the garage or something---much louder though. Can anyone identify the problem?

Most likely bad gear.....get brass replacement gear kit or have dealer replace actuator assembly. I had mine done under warranty, if you are out of warranty, save a bundle and replace the gears with the kit.
, get the gear and if you need e-mail me at adamwilk@tampabay.rr.com and ill send you a detailed set of instructions and pictures that another forum member sent me when i did the repair (not to hard especially since i am not mechanically inclined)
Cool. I may try that out then. It just doesnt seem to me like that would be the problem. It doesnt make the noise after its all the way down/up, its while its going up/down that it does it.

Well if you really think about what you just said - it's only while the headlights are in motion that the gears turn - why would they make noise after they've stopped turning?
Well I had thought that most complaints were of a noise AFTER they are already down/up suggesting that the gear is worn down and slipping, which I dont think would make a screeching noise. Ive never had one go out so I personally dont know exactly what a bad one sounds like. That was just the impression that I was under.
I just took mine in to address that issue (warranty), fixed with no questions asked. Get the brass gears if you're out of warranty and do the mod yourself.

Worn, broken C5 plastic headlamp gears, as mentioned above, are a bane to C5 ownwers, and, a very common problem. Replacing the worn headlamp plastic gears with the brass gears, as suggested above, is the way to go. However, it sounds like you may also have faulty headlamp actuator/motors.
