Console won't close?

Console won't close?
Got my 02 Convertible back from the mechanics today and they must have fooled with something cuz the console won't close? There is a flat plastic piece that seems frozen in the down position and won't let the hook piece in.
I'm proud of myself as I resisted my first inclination.... which is always brute force with a large tool and thought it best to ask you guys what to do first.
Somebody please respond quickly as I'm just sitting here looking at a screwdriver and thinking about heading out to the garage!

Show it to the mechanic and ask what his advice is...
