There comes a time when common sense will over ride emotion. I have dreamed of the day when I could buy a new Corvette and that day came about a year ago. I could not have been more happy until things started happening. These were things that most any mechanic could have fixed but I made the mistake to using my warranty and taking the car to the dealership for warranty work.
Every thing that has happened to my Vette has been made worse by the dealer. I have found out that the only mechanic in the place that can work on a Vette will not do warranty work because they will not pay him enough. I asked the Mac tool man who is the best Corvette mechanic and he told me the whole store of how it all works. The best mechanic is not paid enough to do the job properly and so he will not work on the vette. The dealership has one scale for service work and another scale for warranty work. So, a job that calls for 2.5 hr of work will turn into half that time for warranty work. I even talked to the mechanic when I say him away from the dealership and he told me he had to make a living and could not afford to take on warranty work.
The mechanics that have worked on my Vette have done more damage to it than what I brought it in for warranty work problems.
The Vette is a wonderful car, I love it, but like I said there comes a time when reality/common sense takes over from the emotional.
With all the computer stuff in my vette its impossible to work on it myself so I give up. GM is no help either. Their customer service is so lame that I hung up on the last jerk that I talked to at GM.
This thread sure says something about how GM takes care of their customers. This is a sad unfortunate story. pthomass, good luck to you. Sorry it didn't work out for you.
Sorry to read about your unfortunate experience with GM & the Vette. BTW, was it a C5, or C6? Anyway, too bad you were not willing to sale the lemon Vette [happens sometimes w/all makes & models], then buy another Vette from a different GM dealership.
Your info on how GM services warranty work was very informative, yet
this is why i let the little stuff on an expensive car alone even though the first reaction is to say "damn" 55g's and this crap!!! i'm taken it back to the dealer to have this fixed/looked at!!! OH NO mr. bill. if i can't find the fix or if the part is not that expensive i BUY it and replace it in my garage even if it's warranty. would't even take the car (1 yr old) to the dealer for battery replacement. if they wouldn't have let me bring only the battery i would have BOUGHT a new one and replaced myself. this is how i deal with dealers/warranty on all my gm rides.

I've had my frustrations with warranty/ GM also, but the 3 posts and only being a CF member for a couple weeks makes me wonder...BS?. too poor?, too rich? We'll probably never know. Oh well, at least we know Patches, Bill Curlee, and the rest of us are here to help each other. And here's in case Repo sees my post-
I have had my car in for numerous Warranty fixes and have never had the same problem twice. Maybe because the service managers I take my car to is a corvette owner himself and takes pride in making it right the first time. Thanks Bob, at Jerry Hamn in Jayville.

Sorry you have had so many problems with your car at the dealer. I guess I have been lucky and my dealer has always fixed the car right. I think I would have at least tried another dealer before I sold the car, but sometimes you just have to do what you feel is right.
