Default Window tinting?

Hey Everyone,

Recently I have been looking into tinting my vette's windows and wanted some opinions. I have a MY Z06 and was wondering how dark I should go. I dont want to be too dark but also not too lite, what would be a good medium?

Thanks,
Andrew M

p.s I live in Northridge, CA and does anyone know of a good place to get my windows tinted in the area.

I went to the legal limit for Wisconsin law and it's not that dark. If I were you I'd go as dark as you legally can.

Well, I did a search and it stated that 70% is darkest I could go on side windows. For the rear window there was no limit. So now the question is, how dark is 70%? My friend had 20% on his windows and they were nice, something I could go with. Do you guys think cops would really hassle me if I went with 20% all around?

Dark looks great, but here in Arkansas, the tinting places will only do the legal tint. I have 35% on the sides and 15% in the back! I will admit, it looks great at 35%. It really makes a car look good. I have been doing a Red/Black theme on mine sice it is torch red. When you do get tint done, make sure it is a good company. LLumar tint is probably the best type of tint. It also come with a warenty. There are also several ways to do the back window so it does not bubble around the rear defrost bumps near the top of the back window. I have heard of a sandpaper method, paint, and a few others. Good luck with it!

20% looks really good, thats what i have on mine. I wouldn't even bother with 70% its not worth it, like having nothing on there at all. just make sure its a well known tint shop.

Just some info for you...it is illegal to have any tint on your side windows in Cali . I have tint on mine, but its not too dark so the popo doesnt mess with me...you have to find a tint shop that will do it for you cause they can get a huge fine if theyre caught. there is generally around 5 shades of darkness, go with the 2nd or 3rd and youll be cool

I went with 40% all around, could not be happier, no cop looks at me and it is just dark enough that you can see a difference. I would go 20% but I got tired of 90.00 tickets every month. See my sig for pics of the 40%. Legal in OH is 50% by the way.

Here is a shot of mine. I have what they call the light tint. Its dark from a lot of angles and i have had any problems with the LEO. When you walk up close to it as if you were a cop, then you can see inside without any problem. Not sure what the percentage is for "light"

I went limo all the way around. I live in the valley too and haven't had any problems yet. The way I figure, it all depends on the cop and the mood he's in. I have had motorcycle cops next to me at a red light( yellow z06, chrome wheels, and black windows all around) with no problem. Then again, I have been stopped in my dodge ram with light tint on the side...so i guess it depends. On the z, i wouldn't have it any other way. I know some Highway patrol guys with z06's and their windows are black too. Go figure

Looks great- but that dark makes it hard to see who is coming up behind you at night...

Just had mine doe with 15% all the way around.... it's DARK at night, and very illegal in NJ. I don't know if I'll keep it on there or not.

BTW it's darker than it looks in this pic. The snow behind the car was reflecting alot of light, thats pretty much the only reason you can see through it.

I did 35% all around and then wished I did 20%. I tried to compensate by tinting the entire windshield 35% and it darkened it up qiute a bit. Next is to retint the rear window 20%.
