i find it funny that almost 1 year after the C6 has been out the controversy remains. Was it this way with the C4-C5? I wasnt a member then nor was i an owner. When i saw the C5 was when i really fell in love with the Corvette, when i found out how well it handled/performed was when i wanted one.

I have driven a c6 vert. I frankly did not notice much difference from my pre modded c5 and the c6. Perhaps a bit more torque but that was about it.

Peformance wise theres only about a 3 tenth differance...

A well driven mn6 C6 can go 12.7

A well driven mn6 C5 can go 13.0

The record for the fastest bone stock C6 is 12.4

The record for the fastest bone stock C5 is 12.6

So as far as SOTP differance theres not gonna be that much of a differance..

At the drag strip 3 tenths will be a solid 2-3 car lengths and some one just got ther A** handed to them...

But it's pretty easy to get the 3 tenths back on the C5...

A $400 vararam dose it for some people...

A set of 1,500 dollar LG headers do it for some people....

A stock 200$ 2002 Z06 cam dose it for some people...

NOT HARD TO GET THE 3 TENTHS BACK FOR THE C5...

Now trying to get the front end of The C6 to look as good as the C5???

PRICELESS....

No seriously though....The C5 looks ALOT better.....

Most people who bought brand new C5's could EASILY go and trade in the C5 and get the C6...

The Base price for the C5 in 2004 was even higher than the Base price for the C6 in 2005...

But many think that the C5 looks more beautiful..

The C6 isnt ugly..It's a beautiful car as well....

THE FRONT END JUST LOOKS GENERIC WITH THAT BIG OPENING COMPARED TO THE TWO ANGLED OPENINGS LEADING TO THE LICENSE PLATE ON THE C5.....

some one post a picture of a c5 and c6 from the front....And have them be the same color.....

I have yet to see a pic like this.

I know that maybe some of my points and questions have been said many times here, but I am just starting to look into corvettes really.

Since I live in Australia they are about as rare as a F40 driving around in the States. You don't really seem them often but you do once in a while. I myself own a Chev Camaro Irocz 1986. I am thinking about maybe making the move to the Corvette but in all honesty I think I might add the Vette to my garage when I can afford it. I love my 3rd gen, the way it handles and also the styling.

So sorry about the questions if they have been asked before, but I am trying to do my research and get to know these cars, what to look for and what to look out for. If this is a hassle don't reply at all, that is easier enough. But I guess some people like to be smart asses.

I have a pretty good knowledge on 3rd gens, but corvettes I have not really looked into up and till now.

I did read up on that the 2001 model whas a problematic year so I might be better to look for a 2002 model. I like the coupes oppposed to the FRC.

About the performace issue I was comparing both Z06 models for the C5 and C6 not standard models. I think the difference is like 100hp and 1/2 sec in the quarter mile, which I think is pretty decent.

I think the major + in the design of the C5 from the front is the lower front end compared to the C6. It looks like the C6 front end is a lot higher up or fatter might be the better word. So the C5 looks more sleek I think. But I do like them both

I actually used the search feature on this forum and I typed in c5 comapred to c6 and not much came up. Neither did when I searched for best C5 model. Maybe I am using the wrong phrases, as I was trying to find what kind of style changes and options are different for the years ranging from 2001-2004. If anyone knows of a site where they are listed please post up as I would love to read up on it.

BTW just for some info here in Australia a Z06 2001 model sells for about $160K that is $117K USD. That is why I am so jelous you guys have those cars for under $30K USD. But since I might be moving to Europe in the next year or 2 I will be in a better situation to buy one.

And the price above is no BS. The government here is a ROBBERY. They charge you import duty, taxes (49.5%??), then you have to get the steering converted to the RHS (that alone costs around the (20K USD mark), take into account shipping etc... and it comes to a whopping price. I wish GM marketted the Vette here and brought them out with RHS steering but obviously it is not viable in the end. Everyone here buys if they can the New Pontiac GTO you guys buy from us as the Monaro and then get it dressed up and renamed to the GTO, It all gets done here.

Thanks for the help guys I will be on here more often from now.
