I would definitely pull the shifter out and check it first before going to a dealership. More than a couple of guys I know had their set screws get out of adjustment affecting the shift stops.
That's one of the biggest reasons I chose a B&M Ripper. It's plug-n-play with no adjustments and has been flawless for years.
