Rev matching

At least we don't have to double-clutch like in the olden daze

My biggest concern at the moment was at 70 mph I would drop it into 4th and it felt like a dog.My duramax has more kick (with the edge juice).I may never want to drop it into 1st or even 2nd as low as I stated but it's nice to know what it can take.I do at least want to be able to down shift to a low enough gear to make it feel like an automatic kicking into passing gear. Thanks!

70 mph and drop into 4th??? try 3rd. You may be running in too high a gear for driving. Even though the vette has great torque 3rd gear in an MN 6 or MN12 is good up to 110-115 mph ( red line) when accelerating.

I have always been a "downshifter" ... and I have never had tranny or clutch issues. Rev matching helps a ton .... hell even a small blip of the throttle helps. Granted I have never kept my cars for a long time but I have never replaced a clutch or tranny or had to replace brake pads for that matter (38k on my WRX that I bought new and the pads look almost new). 95% of my driving is street based with the occasional autoX and spirited canyon run. Shifting into first at anything more than a low mph roll seems like more wear and tear than it might be worth but to each their own. Guess I have always owned manuals and I like to be active
