be best for my situation. I have a 99 six-speed coupe with a Vararam intake and newly installed 4.10 gears with a hardened left side half shaft. I’m still in the break in period, so I am waiting out this eternity. A friend of mine has a stock 2000 six-speed with 4.10’s only and I know that no pure street tire will hook up under hard stand still starts. My question is which drag radial would be best for me. I will be using my old wagon wheels, 9.5x18” for drag racing. Do I get the 295/35-18 or 275/35-18 B.F. Goodrich drag radials? I have heard some say the 295’s are too wide for the wheel and some say it is fine. I would like to hear from the people with experience with these tires.
Those are road race tires if this is for racing i would definately go 295 BFG's and run it about 14 psi at the track. Have to play with it for a bit to find out what works.

NT555R2's arent for road racing... Their drag radials. I know, cause I have them on my car. The NT01's are the road racing compounds. I "Personally" like the R2's MUCH more than the BFG's
Honestly, this thread should be in F/I or Perf. You will get more responses
I had the BFG drag radials on my car before I got my new wheel/tire combination. They hooked up extremely well for me. I also had them on my Cobra (4.30 gear) with very good results as well.

RIIs are a Road Race Tire, see Nittos site. The 555R is the Drag tire
I have the MT drag radials and find them extremly effective for hook up. Right now I have them on 17 inch thin spokes for track visits. I have only used them for 2 runs down the quarter and was very impressed. (1.7 60 ft with hardly any warm up and 25lbs pressure) I had some worn out gysc on Z06 rims and couldn't hook for beans. (2.1 60 ft) One run on those and I went home. The largest size is for the MT are 275/40/17. I had the nitto dr's on my Z28 (same size) and didn't like them at all. You need to really warm them up and lower the tire pressure to make them effective.

Dude... Your right. I just went back on to Nitto's site and they are calling it a "Road Race" tire. Thats B.S. When I first bought my tires I looked into them quite heavily. I got them when they first came out. They called them a drag radial with roadracing sidewall capabilities.
Oh well, I love em.
