I put a new shift **** on my stock shifter and cut the shifter as short as I could get it , its nice but I want shorter. I got another stock shifter and did some major cutting on it , I ended up cutting all the rubber of it and it is now just a short stick. I have yet to put it in the car but I am thinking it will have some major vibration without the rubber ,what do you guys think? I really dont want to tear things apart if it for sure wont work?????

I think that you've gone through all the modification of your homeade shifter, finish the deal and install it. That's what custom work is all about
IT was easy to do here at work ,I just put it on a lathe and turned the rubber stuff off ,the cut the shifter down from there.
Almost wish i worked at a machine shop so I could do stuff like that. But if i worked at one they'd probably want me to actually do work or something and i'm much happier behind a computer doing nothing and making my crappy pay.
That and I'd be using so much money in aluminum and steel stock that i'd be broke all the time making custom stuff anyway, lol.
I dont work in the shop anymore but did for years ,sometimes you can get "government" projects done sometimes not .This took all of 10 minutes for me to do myself and did not use any company material .
I just wonder if this will vibrate a ton ,I guess I will just have to try it out . I might go with a C6 shifter ....
No, it shouldn't. I have a Mallett shifter which is essentially an insulation-free billet stick atop the stock shifter plate, and there's really no vibration. You shouldn't have much, either.

Thanks for the info ,that is what I was looking for! I might switch it out just to see ,shouldnt be much trouble I guess?
I installed a kirban shifter and it doesnt have the rubber insulation. At times I can hear the gears in the trans but I can bump the stick (cause it to go netural in the loop in the shift rod) the noise goes away.
It isnt too much of a noise and nothing that I regret or even worry about. Do the install!
