Default Rusty Rotors

For anyone who plans on replacing their OEM rotors, take this advise and get zinc coated ones. I painted the "hats" and fins between the rotors with a hi-temp exhaust manifold paint and still got rust. So ro save time and money I recommend getting zinc coated rotors. So I now have ordered a set of silver zinc coated rotors with powder coated hats (in black) coming from Rotorpros.com.
Here are pictures on my rotors now.

From the pathern of the rust, I wonder if it could have come from the holes and slotted areas on to the hubs. The rust doesn't seem to be coming from the bleed through. Either way new zinc coated ones are on their way.

I painted my hats with Plasti-coat hi-temp clear. No rust yet.

If it ever rains in San Diego (and I drive in it) I'll let ya' know what happens.

I've had pretty good luck so far with mine being painted.
I will eventually move to a coated set when it's time.

Best of luck on yours.

You may have the answer there with that brand of paint. The Wal*Mart brand of hi-temp paint didn't hold up as well I guess.

Thank you for the "luck"...I think you will be doing the right thing when it's time. Or perhaps just the "hat" covers will serve a purpose for you. I thought of that option.

The zinc coated ones hold up very well - had mine for two years now and no rust.

Anodized and Zinc here. Eradispeed's seem to hold up pretty well. These in the picture are soon to get a new "LOOK"!

Got my silver zinc/powder coated hat rotors today. Can't wait to get them on. Waiting for the EBC brake pads to come in and the stainless steel pad covers. My New Year's project
