my check engine lite came on right after I filled up with shell vpower 93, I reseated the gas cap but nothing happened, lite still on, any other suggestions? do you think it is just the gas and i should run it until it is empty? mileage around 15000 no problems before this. thanks for the help.
You might get the light if the Gas cap was not put back on correctly and tightened properly. However, sounds like you already covered that end, could have been a bad tank of gas from the station, perhaps some water got into the mix. Hope you get to the bottom of it.

I have the same problem now. Right after filling up a couple of weeks
ago the light came on. I did the usual: checked the gas cap, ran it
until empty and filled up with a different brand, etc. The light stayed
on. I finally took it in for a checkup at the dealer, and it has a cracked
right side gas tank. So, you might want to check if you smell gas near
the rear wheels just in case. Good luck...
BTW, it takes 7-10 working days for the dealer to get the tank. I'm
still waiting...

Read the DIC code and see what the actual problem is.
I . Read and post the DTC codes!! that way we can point you in the right direction. i seriously doubt that filling it up or bad gas had anything to do with the code!

This "advice" is a little cavalier, to say the least. "You just threw a code" could be nothing or it could be critical. You'd be making a mistake if you took the attitude that it's "no big deal". There are probably 50 things that will illuminate the check engine light. The only way to know where to begin to look, is to see what DTC(s) are set.
