A friend of mine has a Kwik Lift - he really likes it and it suits his needs. If I ever bought a lift, it would have to be something like that since I have a steel support beam running the width of my garage that would prevent a high rise lift from working.
It's a Bend Pac 48" lift. The only problem, which I knew before I bought it was that I was going to need some wooden ramps to get the car up a little to go over the lift. The highest point is about 5" when lowered to the ground. Other than that it's wonderful.
110v wall socket, lifts the car just as rapidly as a normal lift. I've changed tires, detailed the wheel wells, helped a friend put on his Borlas, and polished the car all the way round while sitting on my fat rump. You can get to the oil plug with no problems. It's portable, using the pump dolly to move it. right now it's sitting behind my 72 Buick GSX along the back wall of my garage, out of the way. It's a heavy sucka, but with some grunt it can be moved pretty easy.
Yes you can't get to the middle of the car, but I'm not really messing with the drive shaft, or rear of the tranny. It's more stable than most think. You are of course very careful when you Vette is on any lift. Works great for me..
I got it at the link below, they have a good varity of all lifts, and some pretty good prices. I got mine last year while it was on sale for $100 bucks less..
