Default Pink Wire.... Help!

Need a quick answer to my install of my new DVD/HU/Motorized LED screen.

Says pink wire goes to parking brake switch. Ba Hum Bug -- Have no idea where that is.

SO..... I know I have a 50/50 chance, but those odds are not good enough... Does anyone know if the pink "ebrake" wire (to allow the DVD player to play), go to Ground or Positive???

Pics to follow..

BTW.. Did I make a Haul. Santa must be pleased with me.

DVD/HU

Hurst SHort Shifter

SS Inserts

Corvette Museum Sweatshirt

2 Corvette Travel Mugs

WOW... am I gonna have some fun!

When I installed my AVIC N1 the pink wire was the VSS (vehicle speed sensor) wire. I hooked up the VSS at the PCM.

The handbrake wire was the light green one.

So, would that then be + 12 Volt Positive or when Ebrake is pulled up, does that close it to Ground?

Or better put, does the pink wire allow the DVD to play in the Presence of 12 volts or when there is NOT 12 volts to it?

I can only speak for the AVIC N1

The pink wire takes a feed from the vehicle speed sensor. It feeds it to the unit to allow computations when the GPS signal fades. This helps the nav accuracy. Its used for example when you go through a tunnel and you lose signal temporarily. It hooks up to the PCM Not the handbrake.

The light green wire takes the signal from the handbrake. It senses when the brake is off and inhibits certain functions such as DVD play and some nav functions. I've heard some members run the wire to ground which overrides that protection. That allows DVDs to play when the car is moving. (Not recommended!) It does however let you replan nav routes which would otherwise be impossible on the move. You can achieve the same by taking a notch of E Brake; enough to bring the warning light on but not enough to apply the brake. The N2 is smarter and Pioneer have come up with an extra software frig to prevent that.

Try posting in audio. There are a whole bunch of very clever folks in there who may be able to help.

Thanks,
I figured it out.. For the time being, just sent it to ground. As is does not have NAV, I'm just getting it installed then will complete the circuit for cutting the DVD during motion operations later.

Man, there are a LOT of fricking wires on one of these things - 2 A/V inputs, NAV input, 2 DVD monitor outs, R/L/C and SUb outs pre-amp, And a TV tuner as well. I think they figured folks that buy these thing must have and ole 62 Cheby Truck with enough room to hold a 1/2 ton of crap behind the dash.

Wonder where best to put the TV antenna? Front or rear? Rear is tinted, and AM radio suffers from that bigtime. Probably the front?
