Ive seen many black vettes with red calipers, but I plan on a black and blue color scheme for my black coupe. has anyone got painted blue calipers? how does it look? hold up? ect.
I tried painting the calipers on my last truck blue. The body color was dark blue so I thought a dark blue caliper would look good. Didn't like it. Also tried a lighter blue and didn't like it.
I am painting our vette calipers red when it warms up some.
i have heard that the duplicolor kit you can buy at auto zone is pretty durable (for lack of a better word) and i think they offer a blue also
i painted the rear calipers on my C4 with the RED duplicolor and they looked pretty good befroe i put the wheels back on - i won't know how they held up until i get my new Z06 wheels on the car - as i can't see them with the factory 1992 wheels
thanks, but on a black coupe with black z wheels would it be worth trying or would you stay with black calipers.
black on black might look good with YELLOW calipers - or red - but i wouldn't leave them black - they need to STAND OUT!
and blue wouldn't brighten it up enough to make it worth your while

I agree that red or yellow calipers would stand out a bit more, but personally I like the blue since it's a bit more subtle, not to mention maybe a bit easier to keep looking clean
JOE, Did you remove them from the car before painting or just tape everything off and paint them? I suppose you used spray paint and was the prep work difficult. I am thinking about doing mine one at a time so I dont have to put the car on jack stands and send them out???

Painted mine red also with the duplicolor and the stuff is great. I left mine on to paint them and then used my dremel to clean off the paint from corvette lettering on the fronts. Just used a medium grit sandpaper wheel.
I painted mine red, then last year painted them black - wanting to go with the all black theme - calipers and black outs all around. didn't like it that much. didn't stand out. Repainted red again and much happier. I considered the yellow, that might look good with black wheels, but definitly need a color that stands out IMHO.
whatever color you decide to go with, here are 2 items of advice:
1) Do what YOU like, not what others say looks good.
2) When you decide on a color, do it right-take the calipers off and have them powdercoated. It will be some of the best $$ you spend on appearance mods.

I actually just masked it and left them on the car. The Duplicolor kit isn't a spray paint, it's a regular can of high-temp paint. The only issue I ran into is that it was hard to get the calipers REALLY clean in back. I'm sure i could have done a more thorough job and gotten a better finish if i took the calipers off, but I'm happy with the way it turned out!
