Default BFG Drag Radials

I Just bought a set of stock Size BFG drag radials for my stock 02 Z06 but have not installed them yet..... from post here I am worried that i should have got a larger size.... How well do these do on the track ? How much harder can you launch with them compaired to the stock Goodyears?

I ran a 295 35 18 in those for my first 50 so passes. The 35 have more side wall and might squat a bit and lessen the hit on launch. Ranger did a great thread on those, and there are many here that love them. Get them hot, start @ 20psi and 3500, and adjust as the track prep allows. What track do you run at? I am thinking of going to Kinston tomorrow, but not realy happy about dring over 100 miles on eway to run in the 1/8th (MT ET st radials 275 40 17...).

I also had a 295 35 18 with 17psi at the track and ran a good time with a 1.7 60ft then i tried 15psi.Thats when the cars rear end took a dump. I loved them on the street. I now have 315 35 17 and love them more.

I have 345 BFG drag radials on my C5R '02 ZO6 (mid 10s) and 315s on my 408+175NOS Camaro (low tens and one 9.95). Both are easy to launch well and still drive okay on the street.

Default Launch

I know its a hard question to answer but do you think that it is safe to launch the Z06 at arround 2500? at 17 PSI with the BFG DR?? Should the drive line be able to handle that?

Should be ok with a quick launch, maybe a little slip, and a firm to the wood (maybe a little spin and not a dead hook). Track prep plays in too. I never went less then 17 on my BFGs as I had a bone stock rear. Now with an Aussie, DTE brace and shafts, MT ET st rads, it takes the 5k tiny slip launches very well and hooks great.

Don't dead hook or you can break! Trust me on that one!
