My '99 reads the outside temperature about 10 degrees lower than what the actual outside temp. is. Any fix for this?
update:
Got the 'ambient temperature sensor' today. very expensive...$10.63..includes the tax. If this fixes the problem, it'll be the cheapest fix I ever made on a corvette!!
On my 03 when it was new the temp was way off. The dealer put in a new one and it is now right on. It is under the front nose. Search the threads for where and how to replacel I remember reading it. But why should I do it when GM will pay the bill under warrenty. Good luck.
Sensor is "ambient air sensor", GM # 10248414. You may also need the connector as it sometimes gets bad also from moisture. ACDelco # PT374 or GM # 12102747. A bit of a pain to get to to swap out and solder in the new connector. Is a common problem.
It's located under the pass side headlight assembly. You can access it from under the front right side fender. I'd try the sensor first if there's no obvious sign of corrosion. I can't imagine trying to solder up in there.
Just another little added location thing....if you get under the front of your car and look at the radiator shroud on the passenger side you'll see a little nipple looking thing poking out...thats it. Very easy to take out and reinstall. I put one on my car a couple months back.
