Default How does this one sound?

I've managed to find a local silver/black '02 vert, which is what I really want. Nicely optioned, chrome wheels, HUD, memory, dimming mirrors, performance axle ratio, etc. Owner sounds motivated. Car has 55k mi., needs nothing. Non smoker, no leaks, new factory spec run flats with around 1k on them. He is the second owner, has records, and a transferrable factory warranty that would give me another 1 year/15k mi left, bumper to bumper with NO deductible.

Described as cosmetically perfect except for the usual few minor stone chips.

What would a car like this be worth?

Seems like you are asking a question..Soooo....
Maybe nobody replied because they don't want to play price games.
Why don't you just post what it costs and what we think of the price?

It really doesn't matter... if it is the Vette of your dreams and the price is within your expectations... well, life just doesn't get much better than that.

Sorry, not trying to play games, but I don't know if the seller is a member here either, so no sense in giving away my hand, either before we even begin to negotiate. Also, if it's a great deal, I don't want someone else to pull the rug from under my potential deal.

I was just wondering what others thought a good deal might look like for the described. If it's an offensive question, then I respectfully withdraw it.

I'll see the car soon, make an offer and just see what happens.

Rogue Wave hit the nail on the head! I took delivery last Friday of my 04 Z and after four hours of negotiations, I paidwhat the dealer was asking for it. Oh wait! I did get the floor mats at cost. The "deal" you get when you buy a car begins the day you drive it away as yours and ends whenever it is you sell it. Price is only the first component that becomes a distant memory after awhile. Buy the car

Hmmmmm, just happens to be pretty close to mine.

More options and a few more miles though.

I would say a ballpark fair price for a SoCal vette is somewhere in the $29K-$30K area for starters. You didn't say A4 or MN6 though.

Disclaimer: I'm not selling.

Thanks, Budman. THAT'S THE SPIRIT! That gives me a nice baseline to work from, I think. It seems to me that the factory warranty extension mitigates the slightly higher mileage figure. I was generally hoping to find a < 40k mi car for roughly the same price. It's an A4, BTW, which is what I want. I'm looking forward to seeing the car.

Yeah, finding a < 40K mi SoCal vette for that price would be something you'd want to jump on right away at the ask, with the reserve pending, IMHO.

Assuming all paperwork is present, and you can get the vehicle history confirmed with GM, the 55K miles becomes the bargaining point I'd guess.

When I was looking this summer, it wasn't uncommon to find 75K-90K mile specimens of this type going for 28K (private) - 30K (dealer) down there.

Good luck, and don't forget to post the pics if the deal is consumated!

First typicaly all the stuff we hear about socal cars is for the most part TRUE maybe not the econo boxes but for something like a corvette ya, its likely to be 55k mi.? "02"? you know if you look on e-bay there is a whole section on "vets" .Im in waterworld (realy!) Seattle, and depending how ruthless and cunning (see aged) you are, low $20s as for me not "mid to high" $20S but its your dream and no one but you can see through your eyes,....right there,....when the time comes! kick a$$

Thanks, Budman. If the car is as clean as the seller says, and I can confirm the paperwork, I think that the seller and I will come to terms. Sponge Vette was kind enough to run the VIN for me and I saw nothing in the service history that concerned me. If all goes well, this car will be in my garage by the weekend. It would be wonderful to be able to find what I want, at a good price, this close to home.

But if it isn't meant to be... I will... be patient.

If it is in as good a shape as you say, I would think maybe $29K for the car. Sounds like a good deal, especially with new tires and a warranty.

What you wrote,

What I dealer-bought in Texas for $32K was going on dealer-ebay for $35-$36K that same week.

My experience was basiclly "add 10 percent" for a SoCal vette. Don't know why---just the market I guess.

I know for a fact that I could buy the identical car elsewhere for less, but I haven't seen many resales with remaining useable, factory warranty and I would have to factor in the cost of having it shipped to me, so that "deal" in TX, NY or FL would end up costing me a good one to two grand on top of whatever I actually paid for the vehicle itself.

I bought a NYC Jag for my wife recently and paid $1,400 including insurance and "top loading" to get it here, figuring I'd save a few bucks not going the closed carrier route. Well, I happened to show up at the depot a few minutes after my vehicle was off loaded and it had oil streaks all over the hood and windshield. "Top loaded", my @$$!!

I think between now and the time I visit the seller, I'm going to try and compile some data to provide him that may lay the groundwork for having my offer accepted.

Dream on. That would make my 00 vert about $15k. Not in this world.

I don't really like verts so I don't follow the pricing on them too much, but I would say around 30K or so.
