After I let my car sit for a few days and get in and start in the average mpg readout on the DIC has been starting at zero. In other words, it's not holding it's memory. Have I reset something and didn't know it, or is the gage messing up?
The MPG will reset itself when the voltage is too low, so if your car sits for a few days and the battery is not a fresh one, this will happen a lot. It has even happened to me recently, even though my battery is only a few months old. It happened when I had the interior light on for too long before starting the car after it had sat for about 24 hours.

Never really noticed this since I seldom use the average MPG setting unless I am on a long trip. I'll have to take a look at mine since it has been sitting for quite a while and see if it has any reading for average MPG.

That seems to be a battery warning, check it and get a new one

If its a stock AC Delco I'd be thinking about a new battery.
An '02 vette? Those had the AC Delco AGM battery, if you are still on the original one. Those are notorious for sudden death. This is an early warning sign. Make sure you get an AGM battery as a replacement. The regular lead acid batteries will eventually leak all over the computer wiring below the battery and cause massive electrical issues.

It's not, it's an energizer battery which has more juice than the OEM battery (it's got 800cca)
Like I said though, the car had sat for a while and I had the interior light on for a while before I started the car. It cranked over no problem, the battery was nowhere near discharged, it just had slightly lower voltage than the DIC likes in order to hold the MPG setting. The DIC is super sensitive to low voltage, even the slightest drop will reset the MPG (it also resets the avg speed too and the timer)
