ok so ive had a flat tire for some time now. the drivers side rear tire got a screw stuck in it and it is in a non-repairable spot on the tire. so i need a new one
i dont have enough money for a new stock tire, the cheapest i can find is 310. so it looks like im gonna have to have an odd tire in the rear. heres my options..
i would like the drag radial because of the better traction, but the car is a daily driver, how would the tire hold up? and ive never heard of anyone running a drag radial on just one rear tire, is that safe?
assuming that you don't have new tires on the rest of the car you might look around for a used tire. Find one that is close in wear to what you already have on the car. I would list a WTB in the C5 parts section and see what you can come up with. Lots of folks have removed partially worn GDYRs and they end up just taking up room in the garage. And maybe you can find something close for not too much $$$. I would guess that you could find a couple of GDYR's with half to 3/4 tread for less than one new Flintstone and you wouldn't have an odd tire combo on the car.
The problem is when the other tire wears down then you are replacing it with another odball and you have a mess on your hands.
Check around. I gave my entire set away after I got an unrepairable flat in the right rear. I was using them for the track so the outside front edges were a little more worn than usual but still had several thousand street miles left. Good luck.

just in case you haven't tried it, check out the tire rack. com. good deals
I would be afraid that you could burn out the differential if the other tire is not the exact same overall diameter. Tires might say 295x35x18 but if they are a different brand they can be a different diameter.
