Rear Defogger problems

Rear Defogger problems
Found the braided wire from that goes from the top of the rear window strut to the clip on the grid had broken most of the way through where it connects to the clip on the window.
Has anyone tried to replace or repair on of these?
Looks like a PITA to fix.
Tested the clip to see if solder would stick to it and had less than promising results.
