Thanks for the replys.97 sounds like a reliable year.My brother ran a warrenty check on it at the dealership but his wife must have snail mailed it as I'm still waiting.Having owned 5 previous vettes I'm getting the urge to get back into it!

You can check and see that each time the car changed hands for any reason it is reg. as an owner..by that I mean a tread in, is an owner, sold at an auction is an owner, a lease turn in is an owner...you can verify this my checking mileage between each owner..to see what the ownership was for...trade or real ownership.
If you had the VIN number you can run it to find out the history.
Good luck in your choice, but a '97 isn't a bad one.

I got my 97 pre owned in Dec. of 99. No major issues with it. Have done a ton of mods from cam install to redoing the interior. Drove 8 hours to Road America in Wisc, drove the snot out of it, and 8 hours home, never an issue. I have done that 4 times. The thing just seems bullit prof at least so far.
Just do your homework, check it out, and go for it. 97's can be had pretty inexpensively also. Best bang for the dollar I know of.
Hope its RED as they are all supposed to be RED
Good Luck
Tim
I put a 3500 mile trip on mine over Thanksgiving holiday...didn't miss a beat got 27.5 MPG average.
Well I finally got the warrenty report.WOW!40 REPAIRS.The interesting one is at 7614 miles a fuel tank sending unit, seat belt loop, and calibration reflash all done at service technology hdqtrs Warren Mich.Does that mean it was a program car?Anyways there was also a problem with the title so I passed. Thanks for the help.Dean
just like in any model car , you may have a lemon in any year production , while most would be just fine . Check out this particular car well , then if all checks good , go for it .
I have owned my 97 for over a year now with no issues whatsoever , if you saw it ,you would swear it's a 2004 , and if you drove it , you would love the heck out of it .
bottom line , don't let the year scare you , as long as the car itself has been taken care of during it's previous ownerships . good luck
46,000 miles with no major problems except transmission (low fluid killed it) Hell, I even found out that these LS1's like nitrous!
As long as the car is well taken care of, you should be good -Ed
