I have an 02 Z06 that I drive maybe once every other week. The battery kept going dead on me. I thought it was the battery so I spent $150 and purchased an Optima dry cell battery. The car still shows a charge system defalt if I don't drive or start it weekly. By two weeks it needs to be jumped. Only mods are Vararam and BB exhaust. I am planning a Maggie in a few months. Has anyone else had this problem? Any suggestions? I'm driving it to Barrett-Jackson in AZ next week and don't want it to die somewhere.
The charging system fault is a common fault. It will sometimes come on and go off on it own. Unless it comes on and stays on, you should be fine. Do you have any DTC codes set in the DIC?
Your battery should not discharge in 2 weeks!!! That is NOT right! You need to thak a current reading on the electrical system. I just posted something on this just the other day:
Check out this post and see what your electrical system is drawing for miliamps when she is in the sleep mode.
Also take a voltage reading at the battery with the engine off. Then take a reading with the engine on un-loaded and then fully loaded (lights on, heater/AC fan on, rear defrost on ...ect ect. Post the results.
Thanks for the link and input. Really Appreciated!! I have an appointment on Monday to do exactly what you recommended. The service manager is in the Corvette club here and recommended the same.
