I'm new here guys just signed up so bear with me.
I'm about 4 days from buying a 2002 zo6 with new doug rippie forged rebuild of the stock engine that had a poorly installed magnumus suercharger kit supplied by ligenfelder which after being run at the track caused some exstensive damage and was removed and sent to doug rippie for rebuild. Details on exactly what was done are not clear but seller has reciepts that shop that did removal charged 10K for whatever was done to be done at DRM. I've read everything I could find on the net about DRM and was sold on the car until I happened to talk to someone that said he spent 24K on a 427 kit and after 5K mile blew and was (Supposivly blown off by DRM) So without any further delay let me ask: How reliable do you guys think an engine rebuilt by DRM is? I've been trying to get my vette for 18 years and would really like to make sure I've got a top quality lowerhalf :o

From what I have seen DRM is high quality and very responsive to clients.
good reputation, I agree.
BUT...keep in mind there are a LOT of vettes out there to buy, and you have waited 18 yrs to get your 1st one. Take a few days to look what's out there, no reason to spend your first yr with it trying to fix a problem
Good luck on your search, you won't regret getting into a vette

I'm trying to but this car seems too good for me to pass on 2002 6400 miles w/60k in upgrades done very right for what I can tell except for the controversy of the DRM rebuild.
Don't get me wrong I'm familar with DRM's reputation over the last ; what 15,16 years but got someone with a callaway pleading with me "what ever you do , do yourself a favor do not buy that car big mistake DRM no longer running ads and not as focused and a personal experience loosing 26k" told me to call the vette doctor and verify troubles.
Check it out! I know I probaby overpaid by abut 5k but that's
what happens with 18 years of lusting can lead to. I'm arriving in seattle from Fortlauderdale on Wedsday to give it a final once over. What do you think? E-bay item #4602370418
I noticed a few red flags; 1) The ad clearly states "with ONLY 6000 (never raced)miles". However, your first post on the thread states "after being run at the track caused some exstensive damage". 2) The seller states "I don't feel comfortable guaranteeing emissions." 3) Who did the initial work when installing the Supercharger? 4) IS there a warranty on the car? The Ad shows "Accel Warranty" but, Accel Warranty Services is no longer selling new warranties.
I can see why you are excited about the car but, I'd do alot more research before I'd plunk down 46K for this car.
Good luck!

I'll be there in 4 days and am meeting w/shop (Fordahl Motrsprts) that preformed 2nd mod work after original work performed by (Speed Ware Motorsports) failing to change spark plugs and the motor had major detonation on 5 cylinders with a little over 5500 miles then was sent to DRM
I've talked to Greg who I believe is the owner of Fordahl and he confimed the car left his shop with 5700 miles
I'm meeting with him on wedsnday aswell he said he has dyno sheets 505 WHP 500ft lbs of torque and has paperwork by DRM listing specs of rebuild
I'm trying to get him to put in back on the dyno while I'm there. I'm keeping my finger crossed.
A couple prayers Too !!!
lingenfelter is almost as synonomys with corvette as gm themselves. i highly doubt it was a lingenfelter installed maggie, they run 'em pretty conservative relatively speaking. now if you go running up the boost without having a forged bottom end your probably going to have issues. most, not all tracked cars also usually run some form of nitrious, lingenfelter doesnt believe in nitrious and doent offer it on any packages. they also offer a warranty, if infact it was a lingenfelter liability, it would have been covered. they avg. 35-40 vehicles there every month. not to mention every detail is well documented. BE VERY CAREFUL, TOO MANY UNANSWERED QUESTIONS FOR ME TO CONSIDER A CAR LIKE THAT.

Lingenfelter's quality or service is definitly not at question
Lingenfelter did not do the install so ther is no warranty
and whatever the previous owner did to the car to blow it up it's been rebuilt by DRM hence the title of post "Need help about doug rippie quality"

this car sounds like it has more issues then time magazine! i wouldn't touch this car with a stick! if it makes it from seattle to fla. i would be amazed. for 46k,you can get a lot better car.at least one without issues or hidden surprises
