Congratulations on the new ride and welcome to the forum. :Seeya Here's to miles of smiles . I can't help on the convertible top question as I have a coupe but I'm sure you'll get all the information you need from other convertible owners. Don't worry about questions, that's how we all learn and there is no such thing as a stupid question.
Black top is probably not as big of a deal ... but you will get creases in the fabric from leaving it folded in the down position for extended periods.
Congrats on the new ride ... you'll have lots of fun with it

Congratulations! Unless you've got snow and salt all over your roads or something, just crank up the heater and drive! I was surprised how toasty and comfortable my first top down night drive in the vert was last week. Just roll up the windows if you need to and have at it! Be sure to post some pics as soon as you can!
Welcome to the forum Ed! I leave my top down for weeks at a time during the summer with no harm. Also, if you are not planning to drive it much during the winter then I suggest a Battery Tender.
You'll love it. I got my 02 vert in June with the 6 spd after 10 years of auto only driving. If you don't already have it, get a "Window Valet." It will make putting top up/down much easier esp if you are an old guy like me.
