Default Jacking / Jack stands C5

I have seen a few threads about jacking the C5 using hockey puck 2x4 ect.... today I jacked mine at the front jack points.... used Jack stands to hold it up and did not feel like I was in danger of hurting anything... am i missing anything?

I jacked at the front jack points using smaller jacks .. (you can see them under the car just for back up while on the stands. I placed the stand near the lower arm pivot points...

If they'd fit, I'd stick those wheels under the door areas of the car.(on their side ofcourse). That way, if a stand lets go, the wheel will keep the car from hitting the ground or worst yet, you....

It's hard to tell from the picture, but it looks like you might have correctly positioned the jack stands under the outer edges of the front 'recommended' cross-member and the rear cross-member.

So, if I'm guessing correctly from the picture, and you also used some sort of support/cushion (wood, metal, etc), between the jack stands and the cross-member to assure the jack stand is spanning/supporting at least two 'ribs', then it looks fine.

My write-up (link below) will help define 'recommended', ribs and the different cross-members and how/where to lift/support them.

It is further down in the list, or you can use this link to go to it directly: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show...1&forum_id=103 )

Ok I think i got the stands in the correct spots but when I jacked the car i jacked it from the sides... there seems to be a frame rail with a hole in it... I thought it was a jack point.... it is right under or near the front door jam.....

I had the 2 jacks under and sung between the jack stands just incase of a jack stand failure..... but the tire thing would be another great idea

It sounds like your 'jack point' is correct. Although one is supose to temporarily install into the frame rail hole and then jack via what are affectionally known as 'hockey pucks' to prevent possible body damage (which can either be made from real hockey pucks -- do a search-- or purchased from GM or various after market places -- be careful though, some have reported to break).

I also presume since you have two jacks in the picture, you do like I do on our C4, use both at the same time to lift the front driver and front passenger side at the same time, to prevent twist and elevate the car 'more naturally'.
