The picture that you see there to the left was my 2000 coupe. I sold it and you guys have convinced me to go with the vert next time. Now that's settled, my question is; which years consume oil, and which don't?
Thanks in advance for all of helpfull information.

Sorry to see the MY coupe go, but good luck finding the vert. Some of the late '00's and the early '01's are more widely recognized as the oil consumers. All can use some oil under ahhemm, "spirited driving"
According to a Corvette Magazine article, #17, May 2005, they say '99-'02 LS1's and LS6's Says happens to cars that are regualrly revved high, aka"spirited driving".!! ( I guess thats 99% of us! )More common in MN6's...
The #2 compression ring and oil-expander rings are the culprit.
My 01 has 40,000 and no oil issues. I'm beginning to think the 01's are getting a bum rap. Mine is a great car and we do push the envelope occasionally.
MisterC......are your wheels the originals? Reason I ask, is that my 01 coupe has the thin-spoke polished ones, that I believe are original. I know GM changed from one type to the other, but did they do it during mid-year 2001?

Those look like magnesium wheels to me, they are definitely not thin spokes...
I think the change was sometime on '00, not '01.
As to the oil consumption issue, I add about 1/4-1/2 quart every 8000 miles, with considerable "spirited" driving (I capture about 2oz in the catch-can during the same interval). I've got a '00.
My '00 burned 1.5 quarts between 3k oil changes when new. 31k miles later she doesn't burn a drop! Took a long time for the rings to seat, I guess.
Thats due to the use of synthetic oil from the factory... Rings seat within 250 miles when you break in using Dino oil... Then just switch over to Syn after break in...
