Default help changing the radio out

I am planning on putting a pioneer touch screen head unit in place of the stock radio that's in my '01 vert now. Taking into consideration that the memory option is also tied into the radio, will this change out cause me to deal with unwanted gremlins in the electronics package? The stealership (as per usual arrangement) is very stingy with info like this because they want to over charge me to do the job. And with the reputation they have here in my neck of the woods, i wouldn't trust them to sit the right way on a toilet, much less work on my baby. Is it easy enough to do myself ( i've built numerous car audio systems int he past) or should I pay a pro to do it?

Which system are you installing?

I fitted the AVIC N1 and I have a "how to" for that but N2 and D1 are slightly different

It's not too bad. I just put a D1 in my car and I'm far from being an expert. Post in the Audio section and you'll find a good bunch of people ready and willing to help you out. Of course, your new head unit won't have the same memory functions that change with the driver settings, but the Pioneers have like 18 presets for FM, so that shouldn't be a huge issue. Oh, and putting the aftermarket head unit in the car didn't create any gremlins for me.

You should not have any problem however if you are running it with the bose set up you will need a soundgate adaptor or it will sound like crap.

There's a thread running in the audio section which pretty much covers all you need to know about the installation.
