Excuse my ignorance, but I have been watching the Barrett-Jackson Auction all weekend and keep hearing, LS1, LS2, LS6 ...
I know it references the engines sizes, but which ones are which size. I also thought the LS engines were only in corvettes, but I see that is not true.
Gen 3 engines: LS1 = 346 CI. 345-350hp. Used in 97-04 C5 Corvettes, 98-02 F bodies, 04 GTO LS6 = 346 CI 385-405hp. Used in 01-04 Corvette Z06, Cadillac CTS-V.
(Basically an LS1 with more agressive heads and cam).
Gen 4 engines (same basic engine design as the Gen 3) LS2 = 364 CI 390-400hp. Used in 05+ Corvette C6, 05 GTO, and 05 SSR. LS7 = 427 CI, 505hp Used in 06 Corvette Z06
LS5 and LS6 were chevy 454 cu. inch engines in Chevelles primarily .
The LS6 is the most desired and highest HP engine for the 70 Chevelle SS and 70 Vette. the LS5 was 390 hp LS6 425 HP and LS4 275hp.

Man you guys are smart, thank you for clearing that up. But one more question: I have a 2003 coupe and I have heard it was an LS1 with 350ci 350 hp.Whats the 346 ci?

People like to call it a 350...since that has been such a popular GM small block engine displacement for so long, it's just a nice round number people are accustomed to....but the actual displacement is 346, not 350.

Was it EVER 350 cid? I mean even back in the "old days, was a 350 always 346 cid?
