Pop up headlight motors that did NOT come from a 1985 Fiero! After building a new Vette from the "ground up" why did they have to use those motors?
They could also have improved the ABS/Traction Control System.
You know - the one thing I'd like to add to everything said here is what one of our distinguished members (happens to be a retired GM Engineer that was on the C5 project among others) once said. It stuck with me and explains so many of the mysteries of this car.....
He said, "What we have is a $100K sportscar that GM is selling for $50K."
I thought this was well said by Evil-Twin (one heckuva smart guy!).
Maybe this is picky, but wind noise bugs the heck out of me. I don't mind the exhaust drone, and I can live with the tire noise. But the wind noise just drives me nuts. That, and a little nicer interior would be all I'd do.
No wind noise here. Maybe you need to have something adjusted?
Love the car but alittle better interior would have been nice. I also agree that Chevrolet should have addressed issues like column lock, diff leaks, ect. on the newer models. But its the best all around car I have ever owned and I have had lots of hotrods and racecars.

I LOVE the car and can only find a few things wrong. The seats sre not of the greatest quality, the leaky roof, and some wind noise. but besides the little things it is perfect!

It's too bad that C6 audio and climate systems can't be swapped in. MP3 capability in the factory audio sure would have been nice, as well. A friend of mine just got a new Chevy minivan and even that can play MP3's!!
I would fix the windows and how they seal. I've adjusted the windows in my 01'vert twice. One time to rid the car of wind-noise. The second time to keep the seats dry when it rains. Still haven't fixed this problem and my wet butt will proves this every time it rains.
The car is perfect in my mind. But if forced to pick one thing if I were in charge, I would have gotten the Z down to 3000 pounds. Don't ask me how, I'm not an engineer
I, too, have read "All Corvettes are Red" It is a book that EVERY C5 owner should read...it should be mandatory. In the book you will come to understand the incredable hardships the Vette guys went through to get us this magnificent car. The car was extreemly close to being cancelled. Practically speaking the car WAS cancelled. Other Brand VP's hid money, swapped design time, and unbelievable things to keep the car alive.
Yes, GM and Ford are in trouble... after reading the book.... don't EVER count GM out. There were and still are CAR GUYS over there.
Just look at the C5A...............

I'm not blind or stupid - but I love the feeling I get when I look back at the car as I walk away, that in itself makes all the little crap worthwhile!
I say to the engineers and the executives that made this car happen, and also to the folks down in Bowling Green for producing this amazing car!
I know I will probably take alot of heat but I think the C5 should have been even better then it is. The car is not inexspensive by any stretch of the imagination. The car is not that much faster then a z28 ss that cost 20k less, the camaro handles almost as well also without all the quirks of the c5. I would expect the camaro to have the cheap plastic everywhere but not a 50k car like the C5. HIDS should have been standard equipment after the 2000 model year. The body is beautiful but the interior could use alot of help.
