Steve, I don't know yet. When I pull the head tonight, hopefully I will find a smoking gun.

Barry, you are so right on that score. But.... ECS has customers from around the country - so I'll just be a long distance one

Kinda like the original Callaway intake systems in the C4 - a snake's nest of ducting in very tight spaces.

Yeah, I was going to ask, too - not pulling your chain, but was it parts, or your install, or extreme use, or...?

Hi EG -

Sorry to hear your engine trouble - but kudos to ECS!

It's nice to hear the GREAT stories.

And I bow to you - I remember many a cold night laying in a puddle of frozen trans fluid wrenching on a car with the old "jet engine" heater blowing under the car......

Brrr.........shiver just thinking about it....

best regards -

mqqn

That's what I call customer service. Some other vendors should take a lesson from this. It will pay off for ECS.

Man, what an awesome example of customer service from ECS, Stephen. And, you are doing a great job, yourself, on Sir Grond. Hang in there. And, please do keep us posted.

So EG, do you think you have P/V clearance issues?

No, My cam is 598/608 lift but I have stock unmilled heads with stock GM gaskets. So P/V is not an issue.

I have an unusual valvetrain however, so that might have caused it - Harland Sharp 1.7 roller rockers (stock ratio), chromemoly hardened pushrods (7.4 stock length), Crane dual springs (good to .650 lift), steel seats and titanium retainers but the stock 49,000 mile lifters.

I suspect a pumped up lifter kept the #3 exhaust valve hanging open and the piston wanged it. That's just theory, however. When I pull the head I'll have a better idea of root cause.
