scared!!
-Sounds like you are up against a bunch of legal mumbo jumbo
-Good Luck
UPS doesn't lose packages very often, I would error on the concerned side of things. I also think you can apply for a lost title or something like that using the sales receipt for the car. Might want to call the DMV in California and see what they say, may have to call the DMV in Colorado as well.
Good luck.

So the Oregon registration is good through Feb, 2006. I bought the car more than a year and a half ago. So I’ve let it slide all this time. Yes, Oregon has been notified that I own the car, but the transfer has been in limbo all this time. I do have photo copies of the pink slip and bill of sale. And my insurance company never asked for a copy of the registration???
Recently, while waiting for a tow truck to arrive to tow a friend’s Porsche that had spun out and hit a tree, I got talking with a CHP officer. He asked if I was visiting from Oregon. So I tell him the whole sorted story, crossing my fingers that he’s not going to tow my car too. He explained that I should just go to the California DMV and tell them what happened. He said they can register the car here once DMV runs a check on the VIN to verify the previous owner matches my copies, and that the car isn’t stolen. They’ll need to inspect the car for the VIN and engine number. But bottom line is you CAN register an out-of-state a car here in California without all the paper work in hand . . . At least according to this CHP officer.
I’ll find out once I get my car back out of the shop (oil leak) and get down to DMV.
Good luck!
