They print the title out right there at the DMV and you walk out with it. I still don't understand why all DMV's are not this way. All the information is in front of them on the computer.

it takes 4-6 weeks in Los Angeles to get your title when you purchase the car, is there any way to fast track it and get it sooner?
If you bought the car from a private party, it will take from 4 to 6 weeks from the time you submit your paperwork to DMV.
If you bought from a dealer, it will take from 4 to 6 weeks from the date they submit the paperwork, so it could be significantly longer.
Dealers often only submit paperwork to DMV once or twice a month, so depending on where you are on their "schedule", you will get to wait.
As far as I know, there is no way to hurry California's DMV, unless you walk into an office and shout "Coffebreak"... you will be surprised to see the dead come back to life.
i would like to, but i need it to be registered in my name for 90 days before i can ship it to NZ, so it will be about 4 months before i will set eyes on it for the first time and be able to enjoy it. in the mean time my sister is driving around enjoying it for me
