no choice for MY vote -
i won't put a battery in one of my cars that isn't made by Optima.
i got one in my beater truck, one in my '92 vette (i had to modify my cruise control bracket to make it fit!) one in my 99 FRC, and my/my sisters mustang has one in it too!
my GF had her battery go out, and if she were going to keep her car longer than 6 months, i told her she WILL buy an optima - but since she isn't going to keep the car, i told her she WILL buy an optima the day she gets her new car!

my best experience is with my truck, i had the optima in that truck for EIGHT YEARS can any of you say that about your delcos? i doubt it, because i replaced my delco in my truck with an optima 2 years after i bought that truck!

i look at it this way - optimas do NOT corrode cables, they do not care whether you mount them on their sides or upside down for that matter (had 2 in my mazda truck in the cab under the speaker box laying on their side for the stereo, later found out the lead acid battery under the hood was dead and my optimas kept me going!) and they last FOREVER (in battery years) and trust me, i don't live in a cold state i live in ARIZONA - you read this everywhere HEAT KILLS BATTERIES - except for my optima it almost outlasted my truck!

so take that for what it's worth!

My AC Delco caused a lot of electrical gremlins finally leaving me stranded one day. Enough was enough. Replaced it with a red Optima. Excellent dependable service for over three and a half years. Hallefreakingluia!

I still have the stock Delco in the 04 vert. So far, so good.
I was at the local car toys shop yesterday and saw they carried optima batteries. I asked one of the techs about the yellow top. They are out of stock and said that Optima is coming out with a new design soon. Also mentioned that there was a shipping accident recently that took out a truckload of batteries and has reduced the current supply. I can't find anything to substantiate. Anyone heard anything?

WWK888 - Nice look! I PM'd you.

I got your PM and PM'd you back. You have me confused with MyVetteDream...that's his car you are referring to, not mine.

My choice in your poll could have been 2 of those choices, as I'm sure almost all others could have been also.

I chose "My AC Delco died and I replaced with an Optima and am satisfied with the Optima."

I also could have chosen, "My AC Delco died and did NO damage."

Just for your info.

Optima's website shows these for '97 to '00

Part # -- CCA
YEL34/78 750 Optima 34DTO
RED34/78 800 Optima 34DTO
RED75/35 720 Optima 75DTO

For myvettedream's 2003 they show this as the only option:
RED75/35 720 Optima 75DTO

My Delco is going on 3 years old. No problems, but I do check the battery tray for leakage everytime I wash the Vette.
