I think GM gathered around 30 or so of their best engine builders and trained them to build the LS7. Now when one of these guys arrive at work in the morning his job for the day is to assemble that (1) engine assigned to him from top to bottom and that engine serial # is linked to the mechanic who built it. This is a great system because it gives these mechanics a great sense of personal pride and responsibility for the product they are producing. It also leaves a paper trail to follow back in the event of engine trouble down the road.
