The wave was explained to me immediately upon purchasing my first vette. Plus, do not forget, if you can't wave you gotta flash those fog lamps, works well on interstate.
For us old guys, 43 yet feel like I'm 63, God love you, to quote my daughter "why do old folks get the good stuff" amen! ....When I came home with the vette.
perhaps others have noted this but i've had it happen when i've seen a fellow corvette driver, i always wave; most often, they wave back. however, once in a while, you know how distracting life can be, we get so focused on something that i've realized that a fellow vette driver waved at me & i never saw him till i was past the point where he'd see my wave. call it focus or whatever; no ill will intended. it's just being preoccupied w/ other things. bub
I have a had a few Corvettes in last 4 years and it seems like recently the wave has gone away. I used to get them all the time from fellow Corvette drivers. Its not like I am driving a Red Corvette that can not be seen. Save the wave guys but use it.
Sometimes new Vette owners do not know about the wave
When i bought my 96, used, I picked it up at the guys house and was driving home, and a really pretty blonde slowed down and waved at me as i merged onto the parkway. For a moment I thought it was me she was waving at I should have known better, after a brief moment of joy, I realized it must be the car. It was at this point I wondered why i had not bought a Vette sooner
Then I got on the forum and learmed about the WAVE. I always wave, but I sure would have preffered that pretty girl waving at me
I dunno, I did not know about the wave when I picked up mine, but I still waved back at the first vette who waved at me.
Funny ... On my way to work this morning I ended up pulling up behind a mil. yellow C6 in my C5. The C6 guy started waving to me in his rear view mirror when I was about 45 yards behind him . Moral of the story ... Keep the Faith!
Come on Ole Timers...have we forgotten when the roads were filled with sports cars named MG, Austin Healey, Triumph, Jag, Lotus, Fiat, Alfa Romeo? Everyone waved...no matter your marque...as long as your top was removed from the carriage frame and stored in the boot!
When I drove a C4 I got dissed by most of the C5s I to. At that time I thought C5 owners were a bunch of jerks. I wave to all the Vetts I see, some time I get a return most of the time I don't.
I picked up my '02 coupe from the transport company. First vette in 15 yrs (first one was a '72). Picked up my daughter from school and went up the Crest for a little cruise. I wasn't even paying attention, but a new C6 came around a corner and waved to me!!!! That was my first and best wave, from a C6 no less!!!!!
Was behind a Z06 today and he starts to roll back...i thought okay he will eventually notice what he is doing nope...finally had to honk..no acknowledgement just floors it...of course i can't keep up with him (not that i would do anything cause i have done the same thing with the roll back. and got honked at) Just wishing i had the TTi setup on saw i could have blown by him instead
