[QUOTE=C5Longhorn]If you saw an SL500 then he definitely didn't have a V12. The SL500 comes with a 302 hp V8. The Sl600 has the V12 and those are quick.

I just assumed it was a SL 500 when I pulled up next to him, I really was not paying attention until he wanted to run, then I never saw the rear of the car again.

Just keep in mind some of the AMG owners can & do modify their cars like yourself (with blowers & turbos - its fairly easy to increase boost. All bets are off once the modding begins as we all know ).

See ya,

Do you have any pics of your Kleeman SLK?

Yes, on one of my home PCs....I'll search the hard drive & post tonight (just the engine bay & the rear/exhaust). I guess I should take a pic of the car - it looks pretty stock except the exhaust (and under the hood).

Congrats on your Football National Title . Me & the wife graduated from Florida State in '90....I'm missing our 14 consecutive Top 5 finishes BIG TIME. It was fun watching Michael Irvin, Emmit Smith, & Deion Sanders all play against eachother during my college years. Too bad VY won't play for Houston -he's the best college QB I have EVER seen.

Thanks for the congrats. Yeah, all the sports talk in Houston is VY vs. RB. I would like to see VY in Houston, but think it makes more sense to take Reggie.

I haven't seen too many folks with Kleemans. Did you add the go fast parts or do a full conversion?

Who is considered the best Mercedes Tuner? Brabus, Renntech, Kleeman? Is there a Lingenfelter of Mercedes Benzes?

You are right about RB being a better fit but I still wish it was Young!

Uh oh, looks like this CF is not "allowing" me to post attachments. What's up with that? In the meantime, here is a link to the MB forum where you can see my SLK (I am also "Yellow R1" on that Forum). Just drop down about half way down the thread:
http://www.mbworld.org/forums/showthread.php?t=131048

Yes, I have a friend who owns a speed shop in Oakland, CT Motorsports, who is an authorized Kleemann installer (you must get certified apparently). IMOH, Kleemann is the best MB speed merchant since they design, manufacture, test, & warranty all their hardware (patented supercharger, headers, cams, race cats, blah blah). They specialize in MBs, Rentech et all are not "full line" suppliers & dabble in other makes as well - just my opinion from what I have seen. Brabus does mostly engine displacement increases & favors N/A power. Kleemann favors their blower & other goodies.

The CLK55 is no match for a C5 if driven properly. I have been in one and it is nothing close to our car, and it is also not anywhere close to our class of car. It is a lumbering German Bahn eater. take it to the track and they will all be taught alesson. The Blown versions are a different story. Secondly, the benz automatics are the best in the world, they slam home shifts quickly, smoothly, and the TC makes the cars nearly impossible to screw up in. No talent needed in them. I would take a vette anyday over a benz!

100k!? The SL 65's I've seen were 198k!! Way to much for a car, but the silver one I saw today kicked my *** on my crotchrocket!

Here's the black SL65 at the local dealer... they have a silver one on the lot too!

Then there is the SLK55 AMG which is a high 12 second car with a 0 to 60 in the mid 4's. From my knowledge, any Mercedes that doesn't have the AMG name, your C5 should be able to handle...or at least run even with one. Add the AMG name to certain models, and you could stand a good chance of getting beat. Check the car again and see if it's an SLK55 AMG. If so, it would be a great run for your C5.
There is a CLK 55...MB makes an AMG model of everyone of their cars...just my $.02

Some else asked this same question not to long ago and I will say it again, "Those Europeans know how to build some great performance cars!"

I can appreciate and respect guys that take care of their cars and beef them up too. I like knowing I have a fast car and wish it was true when I say, "I have a faster car." Truth be known, I will never have the fastest car. Just something I have to live with, but I can dream and remind myself, "I still own America's first and best sports car, 'THE CORVETTE'."

to expand upon mph1972's comment. The Mercedes is a luxo model. We dont buy our vettes to cruise around in the utmost comfort, we buy them to track them, to have a blast with and still know it doesnt cost more than some houses!!! Guiltless fun. We may not be the fastest, but we are not the most expensive, the most hitech, but be damned if we arent one of the most gorgeous ones out there!!

I don't get it. I pulled on a C55 on I-4 two days ago, and backed off at 100 to let him by (I'd already made my point anyway). And I was driving my Audi A3 TDI. I KNOW my C5 is faster than my A3!
