i was "driving" next to one today ... I guess a guy in the community next to where i live owns one (i only drive through their commmunity to get to the main road)
anywya .. i was wondering how it would stack against my c5 ..
a very good friend of mine lives in daytona,fl. he has a 383 lingenfelter c5 that runs 11.50 @ 122. he also has an 05 e55, every time i am on the phone with him he tells me how amazed he is about how hard the benz hits when you nail it 500+ ft lbs of torque... he was telling me the other day that at bitlow (sp) dragway a waggon version with the e55 engine ran 12.20 @ 118mph on bone stock tires. needless to say the wagon is heavier than the sedan. personally i think that a c5-c6 is going to be f*cked going down the road at 30-60 and nailing it against a e55. keep in mind that with winter weather the supercharger is going to produce even more power than a n/a motor.
just my .02
I'm not aware that there is a CLK55. But then again, Mercedes has so many differnt letter/number combos, who can keep track? There is a C55 AMG which is a low 13 second car with a 0 to 60 time in the very low 5's. There is a CLK500 which is also a mid 13 second car with 0 to 60 in the low 5 range as well. Then there is the SLK55 AMG which is a high 12 second car with a 0 to 60 in the mid 4's. From my knowledge, any Mercedes that doesn't have the AMG name, your C5 should be able to handle...or at least run even with one. Add the AMG name to certain models, and you could stand a good chance of getting beat. Check the car again and see if it's an SLK55 AMG. If so, it would be a great run for your C5.
There is a CLK55 and it has the naturally aspirated 5.5 ltr. motor. It makes approximately 353 horsepower. I think it will be a close race but you should win if you hit your shifts right. The reason is because he still weighs considerably more than you do.
Keep us posted if you do make a "hypothetical" run against the Merc.
I always thought the CLK55 was N/A, and actually hoped for their sake it was because I absolutely destroyed one. But ya'll talking like they were gods gift to the automotive world made me hit up Mercedes web site and pull some specs.
Not impressed

That explains why he got served a serious lesson. Big heavy car with a slush box. He didn't stand a chance with a car that has equal power to a stock C5, and weighs in substancially heavier.
I asked the same question about an e55 last week. Consensus was that I would get smoked. Damn these C5s. They can't even beat out luxury sedans. I guess a supercharger will have to bepushed closer to the top of the list.

the e55 is a completely different setup and i once hung with one for a lil but .. and it was a girl driving.
my neibor has one, he also has an 05 C6 vert Z51. while he loves the vette, he swears his E55 will blow away the C6. btw, his E55 is a 03' or 04'. im not really sure, dont really know too much about them.
My son in law has a 2005 or 2006 CLS55AMG 497hp supercharged. Not sure of the year but it was brand new when it was delivered in August 2005.I checked out the specs. This car cost the price of 2 new Vetts. Very fast,I drove it. Can easily keep up to a 405hp Z06.No match for a stock C5.To tell you the truth I much rather drive my Vette because there is no other car in the world that I would rather own.LT
The car is question is a CLK55 not a CLS, not an E55 or an SLK55,65, 95, 1000000005 etc....
An MN6 C5 will beat a CLK 55. My modded C5 absolutely destroyed it. Though I trap 122+ N/A and 128+ on the juice. So it was not a fair race. It was so ugly I was hoping he was only a 105ish trap car for his sake.
But again were talking CLK55 here. I understand M-B does all they can to confuse people with the 400 variations of letters and numbers but try and follow along...
Last night I was at a stop light next to what I thought was a Mercedes SL500. As I pulled away from the light he wanted to run, I toasted him. I thought I saw a V12 emblem on the front quarter panel. Was I seeing things?
I love running away from cars that cost twice what mine did.

If you saw an SL500 then he definitely didn't have a V12. The SL500 comes with a 302 hp V8. The Sl600 has the V12 and those are quick.
It's funny, in the last week I've seen two SL55's, a CL65 (v12 biturbo), and an SL65 (also V12 biturbo)... those bad boys are not cars you want to mess with...

I can not wait until one messes with my supercharged Vette and I still got less in mine and it would be alot of fun to drive on by one of them V12 100K mobiles
