I don't know which way to go. Headers or cam? I want the best bang for the buck. Also kinda worried about passing state inspection with headers. Anyone in Va. have problems with inspection? This is the last mod I will do for a while (except the tune of course) so I want to spend the money in the right area. Please give me some info. Thanks Oh yeah...04 Coupe MN6 with Stinger (cold air cut out in shroud) and Borla Stingers.

Best bang for the buck = cam. Period. To make sure that cam is alive in there you need headers Its a non stopping chain

I know I should have both but, as luck would have it I also need to pay bills and feed the wife. So......only one of the two for now!

I have seen posts where all that was changed was the cam and an air intake and the car made some pretty impressive hp

CAM then. Even though, it would be cheaper to do the headers. Unless, ofcourse, you are doing the install by yourself. Depending on the size of the cam, you need different springs and rods, and while in there do the timing chain, LS6 ported/shimmed pump. So it all adds up. Ofcourse, with a cam you need a tune as well whereas, with headers you dont need one. I'd personally do the headers first and then Cam.

Blower/SuperCharger will guarantee you pass emissions and run you about $9K total package and give you about 40% more MPH. A good cam job (about $9K - $3K cam job and $2.5K Heads, $3 everything else) will require springs, push rods, tuning, valves, air intake, headers, exhaust, h-flow cats, and heads to make real power and torque and no guarantee you pass emissions. I have done and engine swap to an LS2 w/cam package and all the works. I am going to add a SC next. If I had an 04 at the time, I would have gone straight SC

Carefull here. It's a slippery slope that we set out on here. Cam, then New heads, then headers ... It just doesn't stop. Mod Fever ... sounds like you caught it ... And there is no known cure for it as I know it!

Is there any counselling available for it?

I am not getting it. I have had it for a long time. I sunk over 20K into my 2000 Mustang.

You guys think a cam, springs, rods, and timing chain with install would be 3000.00? Hope not.

Unfortunately, YES. All the reputable shops will charge you around $3k for a CAM only install with parts and tune

Best way to go is to save your money and get heads/cam and headers all at once. Get a new HD timing chain and new sprockets. You will need to also do the springs and maybe a new intake manifold. Cold air intake is strongly reccommened. Then you only need one LS1 tune and you will have over 400 rwhp. It will transform the car to new and world class levels. A new Z06 clutch would also be a good idea.
