I am looking for feedback on using the frame saver rocker rail kit from A and A corvette. Just wondering what you think of it. I don't have the capability to weld the frames savers to the radiator mount so I wanted to know if they work OK without doing that. Also do the jacking pucks still fit with the rocker rails?
i filed the paint off the frame and one side of the wheel bracket, put a little JB WELD on then bolted them up per the instructions. hit the area with some paint the next day, everything looks good. no problems what so ever, mine are tested everytime i go out my driveway. with the rocker rails you won't need pucks, place the jack on the rocker rail.

Weld! I didn't know people did that. Mine are bolted on and are fine.
The rocker rails install over the puck holes. I jack my car from the rocker rail in the same location as the holes.

thanks,

The rails sit too close to the jacking points to fit the pucks. you can see from this (not very clear) picture:

Frame Savers won't allow you to drive over speed bumps or traverse dips at high speed, but for their intended purpose, they work great in prectecting the underside of the front facia. I had mine welded because I was concerned that a hit at just the "right" angle might cause them to rotate on axis (my name is Mr. Lucky after all ). From the posts thus far though, obviously plenty of people have had good luck just drilling and bolting.
Pucks and rocker rails are incompatible, though mneblett's idea of trimming home-made pucks is a possible solution.
Andy welded my rollers. Bolt or weld, what ever you prefer. Why not just weld, you will always need them and you can still change the wheels just as easy. My $.02
It would be good to weld the front frame saver wheels on....can't imagine JBWeld doing any good, but they seem to work ok without welding and I've checked them several times now. I just wish I'd put them on years ago. My C5 is lowered all the way on stock bolts, so I frequently scrape on things and the wheels are a must. As far as the rocker rails, they fit well and they were easy to put on. This is also something I should have done years ago before I ruined the bottom of my rocker panels. Now I have to get new ones with the brake ducts in them.
Bolted on wheels you should still be going slow. I figured it would be better to stress wheels than radiator supports. As for rails 2 times in 1 week.Once backing out of a drive both rear weels dropped off at same time.I heard a steel sound and it shook car no fiberglass crunch no damage As Karl would say don,t leave home without them.[ for the young ones that would be Karl Maulden on American Express I think ]sheet it,s beem so long I can,t remember. Michael Douglas was just a pup. Anyway get the combo.
