Yes.......the noise is normal ~!!!!!!!

My '02 had 5700 miles on it when I brought it home. Mine makes the same noises. Not a grinding noise, but noise. From everything I have read here, they all do that.

Congrats and post pics !!!!!!

Thanks Russ, one vote for that's normal. Could a few more of the MN6 owners weigh in on this too? I hope you all have the same opinion. Yeah, I don't know that it is grinding, but it sounds like that, metal on metal, sorta jingly at the very beginning of first gear, haha. How technical can I be!!

Hey guys - thanks for the great welcome and good wishes! I've been on the forum a few months, shopping for a C5 here, eBay, and AutoTrader. Found my gem via the last one. inspected it two weeks ago, waited for non-rainy weather (VERY difficult in the PNW), and got to fetch it today from Puyallup, WA. My son of 26 yrs and I had a great time doing this together. A great memory was made.

We took a short ride during SB XL halftime at dusk, and we grinned the whole time. The POWER is simply awesome. 2nd and 3rd pull so hard, but geez I am comparing that to two Nissans and a Toyota, all of which have about 140hp, lol. I'll figure out how to post pics and do that in a new post. Thanks again for all the help. Jon

I still remember my drive to get my vette...though it was a short one, seemed to take all year.

CONGRATS on the new ride.

Well, I don't know if I have the same noise as you... but it is VERY hard to describe... its a very faint metal on metal "grinding" sound.... kinda "tinny" and happens when I put the clutch in shifting gears or let up off the accelerator and the gears begin breaking the car.... is that what your talking about? I wish I had a recording of it...

Yes, that "sounds" like the same problem, but I THINK I only hear it at the very start of 1st gear. It lasts just a few seconds when I drop the clutch (slow or fast) and begin to accelerate. I don't think I hear it at the beginning of the other gears, nor decelerating. ANybody else with MN6 noting this too? Thanks. Jon
