Default telescoping steering wheel?

My 99 FRC has like zero options on it for whatever reasons. It's got a tape deck and an antenna that I have to unscrew with a wrench to put the cover on. Anyways, it's got a tilt wheel and after driving it for about 5K miles since I bought it, I am convinced that if the steering wheel was a couple inches closer to me, I would enjoy driving it a lot more. Was this an option?

According to this ---> http://www.idavette.net/facts/p99.htm , the answer is no.

After reviewing that page, theoretically, I could get a telescoping column from a junked coupe or vert. It would not be original but the driving experience could be better.

But there would be more electrics to fail.

I have the telesciopic wheel and it's a nice gadget but hardly essential.

Since I have positioned mine, 2 years ago I have not moved it. Just move the seat back closer so your arms are closer and you legs are just where you would like them. I have to do that in my other cars, IMHO

I have it in my 99 vert and wouldn't enjoy driving without it. Longer legs make a telescopic steering wheel a needed feature.

Don't know if they are all like this or if it's just mine, but it seems that there is only 1" of travel, nowhere near the telescopic travel of my old '86..

Me three! Also: I'm a big guy and mine has the memory package so when I turn it off and remove the key the steering wheel goes all the way in and the seat goes all the way back. Easy to get in/out. When the key is re-inserted, all the settings go back to my saved driving position(s). I love it!
