Hi all -- my car's paint is near perfect.. and picked up a paint chip from a wayward pebble. Is there any way for me to touch this up myself at home? I'd hate to be without my car and pay through the nose for a very small chip.
Chips are pretty easy to fix yourself depending upon the color, the difficulty can increase a little. Go to the dealer and get yourself some touch up paint. Just give them the VIN and they will get you paint to match then you should Have a look at this site. The stuff works and can hide a multitude of sins.
Get the touch up paint kit at the dealer or right color at autoparts store.. I clean the chip with a q-tip with alcohol and dry.I never use the brush that comes inside the kit. It is way to big for a chip. I go to a autoparts store and buy a product that is called a E-Z Dabber. I put a dab of paint from the kit on a index card and then use the dabber to precisely touch up. It may take a few times but less is better. Always layer slowly. The dabbers are throw away so always use a new one. Here is the link to get an idea what it looks like. Hope this helps.

cept don't waste your money with the premix it's not going to match
well. Go to an auto body supply house. A good one will tint/match the paint. On your car, Higher price but worth it!

Paintscratch.com sells outstanding paint that will be a perfect match. You can buy a small pen which is a lot easer and better than a dealer touch up bottle and brush. That stuff is too gloppy.
I checked the Touchup 123 site this evening and I'm intrigued, but I did a search and cannot find anyone on this site that has tried that product, so I remain somewhat skeptical.

I've got the same problem with small chips on my Black on Black 04. I purchased the Norton chip / scratch repair system (as shown on Dream Car Garage). It work great but a bit unnerving at first to sand on my beautiful baby. I woud recommend you purchase high end touch up paint from your GM dealer as I had some problems with the local autopaint suppliers product. I didn't adhear to the factory paint and pulled out. I now only use the GM products. Good Luck with you choice of repair options.

Where did you find the Norton kit?? I've been looking around, but haven't found a source yet. Thanks!
I called their 800 number to locate a local dealer. 1-800-456-8444. They rep was real helpful and gave me number to three local dealers. Their web site is www.nortonautomotive.com they are a Saint-Gobain Abrasives Inc company. Let me know if you have any problems and I'll dig through my stuff to find the dealer numbers.
