Want to insulate the rear cargo area on my '99 coupe. Need input on what type of materials are available. Is the aluminized stuff sold at Home Depot and Lowes a good choice? Is there a particular product that does a better job than the others?
there are pre-cut kits available.... Frost King
and CF member Crazy Cowboy at ExoticVettes.com also sells them.
They are more expesnive but certianly cut down the installation time
the exoticVettes (supporting vendor 'crazy cowboy') one looks sweet, and, as mentioned above, it is pre-cut. I will most likely be purchasing one in the near future. I believe they are $210 shipped....here is the link to the thread
I first put down Dynamat Extreme and then the precut kit from Exotic vettes over that. It quiets up the car pretty well that now you I can hear all the other things like wind noise and noises from interior trim parts.

Nick
been there done that , Dan has a good kit, i highly recomend it
If you only want to do the “rear section” only I would by 3 rolls of Frost King and one or two rolls of Dynomat Extreme. I did the rear of mine first about a year ago and one Dynomat is not enough to cover the large areas so I would knock on different areas and ones that sounded hollow I used a chunk that covered about half the area then I would knock on it again and it would be a dead thud instead of an echo. I did the front area with 4 rolls FK and two Dynomat Extreme. Very happy with results but the kit mentioned above would be quicker if you do both areas.
Done the FK mod myself........doubled up on many places.....tap on the area right behind the seat backs.......unbelieveable noise travel.....don't think for one minute that it is going to sound like a cadillac on the inside.......10db is really alot but hard to tell the diff...
