I am located in Wisconsin and my corvette is laid up in my garage until spring. However I still like to start it up once a month to charge the battery, get some fuel through the injectors (we have reformulated gas in SE Wisconsin), and just improve my overall psyche until spring. I have never checked this before but the last time I was letting it idle I was scrolling through the DIC and the tire pressure readings were blank when indeed there was pressure in all four tires.
Is this normal? The car is a 2001 and has the original tire sensors. What are the odds they would all fail at once? Or does the car need to actually be driven and have the tires rotate for these sensors to work. Before I scrolled through the DIC, I never received a low pressure tire alarm either.
The tire pressure sensors shut off to save the battery. They sometimes show a ghost reading from the last time they were on. They will come back on just fine when you get her rolling again.
B.t.w. Most will tell you that starting the car during storage without bringing everything up to temp is worse than just leaving it sit. You are inviting condensation to form in the mufflers and tips without getting it hot enough to burn off.
