Default Headlight Motor - Epoxy keeps cracking

Ok, so a while back I had the headlight gear issue....

a. Ordered the gear from Rodney Dickman
b. Replaced the gear
c. Use the Rodney supplied epoxy to seal the motor housing again

After a couple of months the headlight started malfunctioning again and I found it was because the epoxy around the motor housing had cracked and it was loose.

I went out and bought some epoxy...Repeated the procedure again only this time carefully cleaning out the edges of the motor housing before putting it back together again and applying pressure on it after epoxied for about an hour before dropping it back into the car.

3 weeks later...same problem AGAIN!!!

Anyone out there have any ideas on a stronger adhesive?
Any suggestions on clamping it in addition to adhesive?
Any suggestions on any other way to keep this from happening again?

Thanks,
Mike

I had the same problem and lost one side cover when it came off. Any suggests would be welcome.

Anyone have an old motor that I can salvage the cover from???

What type of epoxy did you use? I have had great results (in industrial applications) using 3M's DP-420 or DP-460 epoxy. You should try to fixture the parts being bonded, if possible.

i had the same problem. i ended up using a very small drill bit and drilled through the endcap and the housing and fastening them together with wire.

i did 4 or 5 per side and it has held together fine for a while now.

This might turn out to be the solution. I'm just not in the mood to keep taking this out every few weeks and repeating the process until (and if) I find something that really holds...

I guess the GM adhesive wasn't as bad as we all thought...the one on the motor that's GM sealed has never even once come loose...

Thanks for the advice and keep it comin' in case there's a better idea...
