Default PERFECT Holiday!

It was a great holiday!

1. Wife and son went to visit friends in Portland (I love them, don't get me wrong.)
2. Sunny
3. Dry
4. 40F
5. 174.5 mile roundtrip from Salem to Tillamook on the Oregon coast, via 22 and 101, then back on 6, 47, and 221; lots of curves.
6. 3 hr. 31 minutes
7. Average speed 42.5mph
8. Average mpg 25.5
9. Saw oncoming a beautiful green C4, but no time to wave
10. Waved to oncoming mag red C5, and he waved back
11. Home by 2:30
12. Gave my 02 Mag Red its first wash using the two bucket method, blow dry, plus some hand drying.
13. Neighbor from across street (Miata owner) came over to admire car and congratulate me on getting it. He loves it, and actually knows some things about the car, including the CAGS.
14. Tire shine
15. Just stare at car now back in its space in the garage
16. Grateful to be able to own it
17. More grins
18. Wanna go again!

Geez, I was impressed by the car today. It feels like its on rails, stays very flat in the curves (no Z51), has so much power in each gear, and is very fun to shift. Great sportscar with a nice, comfortable ride. Yeah, I am preaching to the choir, but it takes ownership to fully appreciate the C5. WOW!! Jon
PS Here's another pic!

Speaking of cool, when I went through the higher elevations of the coastal range on 6, there were plenty of frozen waterfalls, and some ice packed parking areas for hikers! Jon

I am jealous. Mine won't be on the road for another month. But I have been on some of the roads you speak of. Once I was in Mist Oregon and we asked how far it was to the next town. Answer was a 135 corners. They didn't know mileage just how many corners. We were so lucky they had just paved it all a couple of weeks before. Awesome ride. Smiles, smiles, smiles.

Yea. Jumped into mine this weekend, first time in 2 weeks (Snow, sub-zero temps kept it under covers). Felt like I just bought it. Unbelievable feeling.

Congrats on the car. It is a beauty. And, nothing like spending some time behind the wheel.

I get it!! I love my family, but time solo behind the wheel of the C5 is soul inspiring. Gorgeous C5 you've got there.

Stock Man: Mist, OR, 135 corners - I will be checking my map to find that town, and plan a cruise there!

JH: "...time solo behind the wheel of the C5 is soul inspiring" - you've concisely described my feelings!!

I think about the C5 when frustrated at work and I need stress relief. It's amazing how that can lighten the load! Jon

Awesome! Did you take any photos along the way? I always wanted to visit out there. BTW, an elderly cousin of mine saw my 2000 vert today and asked how I got the nice glass finish. When I told him I used Meguire's, he said that's what he used for custom detailing at the carwashes he used to own. Can't fool cousin Sammy!

Know what? I had the camera, but just got all caught up in driving and I did not want to let go of the wheel and the gear shift. I got out of the car once, about half way, at a rest area. I'll do better next time, and take some pics somewhere! Jon
