Default Header wrap? Yes or no.

Does this stuff work? I have seen two kinds one is like a tape that wraps around the pipes. The other is like pipe insulation with a foil looking thermal barier that has a slit on one end . You open it up wrap it around the pipe and it clamps on the other side. I know they won't look good but do they work?

it works to keep heat in but from what I've seen it can also keep in moisture etc. which can potentially shorten life of your headers.

Most comments I've seen at this stage in automotive tech is to skip the tape.

I don't have any personal experience with it mind you, just relaying what I've read over the years.

Stay away from the wraps. actually can collapse the tubing since heat cannot escape. Coating is the way to go.

Invest in spark plug socks to protect wires from the heat of the LT headers. I had a short (where the heat burnt through) on my wires in time.

Default headers

You might want to check out Jet-Hot's own coated long tubes. I got mine for just a little over $600 shipped, install was easy and did not need O2 sensor extensions.

I also got my coated at Jet-Hot. They looked great, sorry, I can't remember what the cost was.

Is it possible to coat the LG Lt headers/ will it degrade performance. I know the LG's are stainless steel. How much will it cost?

Where did you get them from?
600 coated is a deal.

I got the whole system coated (X pipe and intermediate pipes), probably over kill, but I plan on never selling my C5. You can go to their web site and ask for an e-mail quote and they will send you all the info. With the sipping back and forth I will say it will be under $300

$550 if you have LG do it (everything except cats); $350 if you just have headers coated and you have them take care of it.

I think generally Jet-Hot charges around $275 + shipping (both ways) to do just the headers.
