I think everyone here is being a little closed minded and not very thought intensive about what I'm saying. I'm not some redneck moron that wants big *** chrome pipes and flowmasters... I'm talking about some serious fabrication, and only an exit by the rear brake duct area, something tasteful... I think it could be done.

I have seen one a while back, but can't remember where. Somehow the exhaust were behind the rear brake duct screens on a Z06. I think it would be cool to somehow fabricate something like that. I know what you are talking about ( Something tastefully done ).

the only way to do it is to route the exhaust under the rocker panel (no room) through the gas tank (bad idea) or move the gas tanks (not much better). It's not that people don't want it, or it can't be done just that it would require so much custom fabrication and reengineering that it's not worth it.
this is the only possible way, without cutting the frame, routign the pipe and reboxing .. because of the sloping angle of the front up front .. it might, might be possible

"through the gas tank" bub
btw, it's an increasing but perplexing phenomenon here on the forums where folks ask a question then get somewhat huffy when folks don't provide the answer they want or agree with them. go figure.
don't laugh, someone actually suggested that a while back, just cut a hole in the tank, put the exhaust pipe through it, then weld it in place, would work fine as long as the tank is full (no vapor) or the exhaust isn't hot (no fun)
This comes up ever few months and in 10 years, no one has made it work. As cool as it could be, I don't think we'll ever see it on a street car. I've seen 2 pictures, 1 was a photochop of a black Z06 w/ widebody kit on it, the other had the exhaust exiting on the side of the rear fascia and looked retarded.

We could always identify a corvette driver with side pipes back in the 70's by the burn scars on their calves. Some called them corvette tattoos.
I saw pipes on the last model Z28 just last week here in Oklahoma, and they actually looked pretty good. Much smaller diameter than the Hookers we are used to on C3's.

No, it's getting increasing phenonmenon that people don't reply with realistic ideas... I wanted to see if we could get some real information or at least some ideas on how/if it could be done.
Designer Imagines A Corvette That Looks More Like a Corvette Than the Corvette
