Default DTE Brace

02 Z06 here.... Wondering how much trouble the DTE brace is to install?... Do you have to remove the trans from the car? Need a lift?

Nope and nope. But I would highly suggest dropping the rear crossmember (which is not that hard, just a little time comsuming) to give yourself more room. Look here.

It can be done without removing anything but I can't imagine the PITA you will go through, especially without a lift.

I also highly recommend the brace.

Gives me piece of mind when I am out putting the power to the ground.

Just a heads up I just installed one, the bolts with the kit are a bit to long. In the blind holes the bolts are too long and bottom out before correct torque is reached. I just spaced em out with a lock washer and thicker flat washers. Its the brackets around the diff side covers( the ones that leak) pay close attn. installed mine while doing clutch, looks like a pain with out removing trans and diff.

Sure, it's just 3 times less beer than you drink while installing turbos. Hope this helps. Lemme know if I can be of further assistance.

That is the best time to put in a DTE Brace and I would do it, if your differential gives out it will help hold everything together instead of possibly damaging other parts and for the price that is good insurance, now I put one one because of my FI setup, and I did do it the easy way when I changed to a better clutch

There is no "magic number" of power level recommendation we prescribe for our product to be used, but rather one should consider how any given power is applied and/or what tire combination the vehicle is equipped with.

The greater the driveline shock from the power application, regardless of *any* available power output, the greater the chance of driveline deflection under load, which leads to an overload event and ultimately driveline failure. Additionally, stiff-sidewall, DOT approved drag radial tires will always transmit a significantly more amount of torsional shock directly to the differential, than would a non-DOT approved, soft-sidewall drag slick.

The differential and transmission cases in these cars are manufactured of a moderate-grade cast aluminum at best, which by nature, *WILL* metallurgically fatigue over time to the point of failure (especially drag racing abuses) and there is not one person that can overcome that very simple law of physics despite their deepest desires to do so otherwise. The sooner someone realizes that fact, regardless of what car they have, the easier it will be to accept when the driveline in *ANY* drag race car will break given enough time...

If you choose to race your Corvette, (or any vehicle for that matter) you *WILL* break something eventually regardless of what the components are manufactured of and who produced them.....

Our product was designed and engineered to significantly reduce the likelihood of catastrophic driveline failure that would otherwise also destroy the transmission with it if the internal components of the differential failed causing driveline fracture. Simplistic design and sound engineering enable it to do just that very well and it's success to date on hundreds of cars has been a supporting testiment to that fact to date.

Respectfully,
DTE

Yeah the brace is a nice piece. I have one. It wasnt hard at all to install. I did mine with the trans out of the car during a clutch job.

I'd recommend it.. it's a stout piece.
